Robyn Choi was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1993
and started practice in Malaysia in 1994 after
graduating with degrees in Economics (majoring
in Accounting) and Law from Monash University
Australia.
In her 29 years of practice, Robyn has appeared as
Counsel as well as Co-counsel with many renowned
Senior Counsel both in superior courts as well as in
international arbitrations.
She has successfully tried cases and appeals in
landmark cases relating to shareholders' disputes,
directors' duties, boardroom tussles, receiverships,
construction disputes, defamation, debt
recovery and regulatory offences.
As a solicitor, Robyn has been engaged to advise on
corporate strategies and structures for schemes of
arrangement covering capital reconstruction,
amalgamation of companies and debt restructuring.
She has also worked with, and led teams comprising
financiers and investment brokers, accountants,
legal counsel and receivers for corporate projects.
Apart from working with clients and in court rooms,
Robyn has been serving the Malaysian Bar Council as
a panel member of the investigative tribunal of the
Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board for
several years. She also participates and delivers
papers for conferences in areas of corporate and debt
restructuring, shareholders' disputes and insolvency.
In the past 17 years, Robyn has advised clients and
litigated on intellectual property and information
technology cases.
Outside practice, Robyn spends a portion of her time
on human rights issues and is a member of the
National Human Rights Society, HAKAM. She was
HAKAM Secretary General from 2010 to June 2018,
Treasurer from 2000 to 2004 and Auditor from
2005 to 2008. She has been a member of the Bar
Council Human Rights Committee and Information
Technology Committee.
Robyn has a passion for the outdoors, reading and
travelling - when not running in the parks of Kuala
Lumpur, she can be found meandering between
shelves in book stores.
